Money Management Institute Honors Exceptional Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Efforts at the 2022 Annual Conference

NEW YORK, NY, October 21, 2022 – The Money Management Institute (MMI) and the Gateway Foundation announced recipients of the Opening Doors Awards yesterday during the Industry Celebration Dinner at MMI’s Annual Conference in Nashville.

Designed to recognize and celebrate outstanding efforts in advancing diversity, equity and inclusion, there were four awards in three distinct categories:

  • Opening Doors Champion (individual): Rachel Jacobs, Macquarie Asset Management
  • Opening Doors at the Front (program): Women in Sales Excellence (WISE)
  • Opening Doors at the Front (program): Diverse Investment Management Engagement (DIME)
  • Opening Doors Breaking Barriers (firm): Invesco

“The Opening Doors Award recipients are being honored for raising awareness about diversity, equity and inclusion and the meaningful steps toward addressing these issues,” said Craig Pfeiffer, MMI President & CEO. “Those being honored have demonstrated the leadership, innovation and proactive commitment that we need to make progress within financial services and in our society as a whole.”

Senior industry leaders submitted written nominations on behalf of their peers and colleagues for the awards. The judging panel consisted of members from the MMI Board of Governors, the Gateway Foundation Board of Trustees, and the MMI Social Justice Advisory Council.

“By collaborating, we foster the collective capabilities of our industry to accelerate the progress of diversity, equity and inclusion in underserved communities,” said Marc Brookman, Chair of The Gateway Foundation. “While there remains more work to be done, we are proud to recognize the efforts of so many that set examples, lead the way and make a difference.”

The awards were presented as part of a celebration of MMI’s 25th anniversary, the Gateway Foundation’s 15th year and launch of the Opening Doors brand which aims to boost the efforts of the Gateway Foundation by raising funds, bringing people together and celebrating the individuals and companies that dedication themselves to the mission of diversifying the industry. The program also highlighted the Gateway strategic initiatives: 1. Financial literacy; 2. Industry Awareness and Preparation; and 3. Performance and Professional Development. The evening concluded with the MMI Barron’s Industry awards recognizing innovation and leadership in the investment advisory solutions industry.
